by Rob Cornell
4.7 out of 5 stars on Amazon
Dark Fantasy Thriller

Craig Lockman--no one had called him that in fifteen years.

Not since his days at the Agency. Not since he was trained to kill creatures that were supposed to exist only in nightmares.

Yet the teenage girl on his doorstep not only knows his real name, she claims she's his daughter.

Before Lockman can learn how the girl found him, he's attacked by a black-ops team of assassins. But these aren't ordinary killers--they're heavily armed vampires sent by his most hated enemy.

Forced on the run, Lockman protects his daughter from an onslaught of horrors while searching for who betrayed him and why. The investigation leads him to Detroit, where he unwittingly sets a plan into motion that could trigger a paranormal apocalypse and cost him his soul.

For fans of James Patterson, Jim Butcher, and Stephen King... Darker Things is a dark fantasy thriller loaded with fast-paced action, double-crosses, and shocking twists.

When "Sufi chick" spa owner Núr Lucas hires him to locate the angel of despair, private detective C. R. Oliver thinks he’s taking another safe and easy missing-person case, but he soon finds himself swept into the otherworldly schemes of the Seven Sins, the emotional manipulation of his own client, and the temptations of a young fallen angel who clues him in to the secret for cheating Death Herself.

Drawing on sources as disparate as film noir, quantum physics, Medieval theology, and Gilligan’s Island, Pin pulls the reader through a two-fisted, hardboiled investigation into the family intrigues of the semi-divine, a mystery that dredges up the conflict of individual and archetype, the role of literature in defining the soul, the decadence of social progress, and the basic metaphysical nature of reality.

Long-haired Scottish rock singer Spark MacDubh drops dead on a snow-covered street of his native Bronzehall, only to be jolted back to life by what he calls 'lightning from Heaven'. Following his resurrection, Spark's sanity is stretched thin: during waking hours, he receives instructions from deities known as the Metal Gods; at night he is haunted by visions of a Devil who wields ultimate power over the music industry. Employing behaviour that swings between messianic and infernal, Spark gets his old band back together with a view to steering them towards greatness. The Devil, however, only grants success in exchange for souls. Unwilling to use his bandmates' eternal souls as bargaining tools, MacDubh comes up with a preferable route to stardom: put the Devil out of business. A simple idea but questionable in terms of practicality. For starters, it requires a trip to Hell, and only the right music can open the gateway to that dimension. Catch-22? More like Catch-666.

Quotes from Reviews:

This is one of my all time favorite Urban Fantasy series.

The pacing, world building and writing are very good. There's plenty of action and plenty of things going on.

Awesome characters, excellent writing, intrigue, mysteries, murder and lots of sexual tension!

Different from what I normally read, but I couldn't put the book down! I can't wait to tear through the other ones.

I read the entire series, and I gotta say- fantastic. Fantastic plot, fantastic character development, fantastic writing, and fantastic originality. I am a voracious reader of the urban fantasy/paranormal romance genre and books in general so when I say the story is completely original and different from every other urban fantasy series, I have some experience to go by.

Great Read! Recommend for paranormal lovers of the fae.

Spotlight Urban Fantasy Novelette - Only Echoes Remain

Only Echoes Remain
by A. J. Kalliver
4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon
Urban Fantasy

The world has changed, and Isa is just an ordinary girl.

Decades ago magic came into the world, redefining what man thought of as ‘reality’, and Isa is just an ordinary girl.

Strange creatures, and beings once thought to be myth are abroad, in the wilds and in the largest of cities… and Isa is just an ordinary girl.

Isa is ordinary because she has to be.
The changes that have taken place have left many people frightened, and frightened people tend to lash out at the things they fear. For a girl who may or may not be even remotely human (though she will admit to being annoyingly cute), a low profile is essential. And profiles don’t get much lower than living in a cardboard box, on the streets of Chicago.
All she wants is to be left alone, but the world hasn’t changed that much.

No one ever gets what they want just by wanting it, and someone is always looking to use you for their own ends.

Quotes from Reviews:

Tightly Written, Excellent World building

In a time when the work of so many first-time authors still has the cling of not-quite-fully-edited writer's workshop prose, this first work by AJ Kalliver stands out as a tightly written and well thought out powerhouse.

This story was definitely worth the money. I found myself asking questions as I read, hoping that the answers were to be found later. I wasn't disappointed. After reading the first paragraph, I was hooked. Told in first person, 'Only Echoes Remain' is a terrific look into the life of a powerful person who immediately made me want to know more about her. Definitely a must read!

The pace was quick and the characters were fully formed in the context of the story.

And she has organized the most perfect and most vicious of welcomes for Elena...

Quotes from Reviews:

A wonderful series with gorgeous prose, fantastic characters and the world-building so vivid I could be living along side Elena. BOOK CHICK CITY

I will be adding Nalini Singh to my List of Authors that I Enjoy Reading!

I enthusiastically recommend a N. Singh novel to anyone and this one is no exception.

I loved watching a real love story unfold between Raphael and Elena. I loved the great cast of secondary characters, all rich and multi-layered, with backstories I'm hungry to learn more about. The action is fast past and full of intrigue, with danger at every turn. And let's not forget the sex... the great, great sex. Mmmm. Loved it. 5 stars.

I really do like this series. It has a unique concept and the characters provide constant entertainment. Singh's angel mythology is getting more fascinating by the book. The villains are scary, the action is well written, and the romance is complicated, which only makes it more realistic.

Nephyrae  (The Nephyrae Vampire Series)
by Dee Ashford

YA Paranormal Romance

Nephyrae: A Paranormal Romance Series #1

Nephyrae: The Vampies Cousin

Waitressing wasn't exactly her dream job, but for 28 year-old Heaven Golding it was a financial lifeline. Besides she kind of enjoyed the attention she got from the mostly male clientele, and the barman, Bronson, well, she felt a kindred spirit in him-and he was pretty hunky too.

In fact Bronson was not only young and hansome, but is right there for Heaven one night when she gets some unwanted attention from one of the bars' low-lives. The extraordinary way he deals with her assailant causes Heaven to become convinced that he is not just your everyday average barman and that she has to find out just who, or indeed, what he is?

Getting warned off him by a female co-worker, and the drama of the previous nights incident paves the way for Heaven to find out from Bronson his secret. What she learns is far from ordinary, almost unbelievable, a world in parallel with our own, where distant cousins of vampires, the Nephyrae, co-exist and live peaceable lives with humans. But they are also persecuted by vampire hunters and continually have to be on their guard. Their only protection being a rage-fuelled transformation that turns them into terrifying killers.

Can Heaven's love save Bronson from the beast that rages within him, one over which he has no real control?

Nephyrae:The Vampire Hunters

In Nephyrae: The Vampire Hunters, Heaven and Bronson have moved in together and are trying their best to lead normal lives, whilst coming to terms with the problems they both inevitably face as Bronson tries to supress the other half of him that is not human (or maybe more than human), the Nephyrae.

If that wasn't challenging enough, a innocent trip to the local diner suddenly plunges them into a nightmare of threats, violence and fear as they come face to face with the Hunters, whose sole purpose is to kill all paranormal entities.

As Bronson's girlfriend, Heaven is very much in love with her gorgeous hunky man, but as the girlfriend of a Nephyrae it also leaves her extremely vulnerable.

The Hunters want to get Bronson by any and all means possible. What does this mean for Heaven and just how much can her love and loyalty be tested?

Nephyrae: The Vampire Hunters Lair

The second installment in the series sees Bronson and Heaven locked in a battle of persecution and mortal threat by a gang of sadistic and violent killers, the Hunters.

Bronson must act when his girlfriend, Heaven, is kidnapped by a group of people who want to kill him. To kill him for being,as they see it, a monster. He is a Nephyrae, a race that is almost human but something more at the same time. And, something less.

Bronson seeks help from other paranormals like him to get into the building where Heaven is being held captive. One of the people he gets to help him is an ex-lover, a beautiful woman who holds a deadly secret, even more dangerous than her looks.

Will Heaven lure Bronson to his death or can the paranormals use their awesome powers to unleash terror in the Hunters Emporium and get her out?

Nephyrae:Escape To Freedom

The last installment in the series finds Bronson and Heaven seeking a new life away from constant danger, but where can they go that will be safe and how can they get there?

Bronson and Heaven have decided they have to get out of the city. The Hunters are threatening their lives and nowhere seems safe. Bronson is their real target. He's the Nephyrae. Heaven is a normal human girl, but the Hunters have already shown they'll use her to get to him.

With the help of friends, including Bronson's ex-girlfriend, they make a plan to leave. Heaven is upset about the ex-girlfriend being a part of their escape plan. Until Bronson proposes. It would be a happy moment in their lives, if the Hunters hadn't found them again, and if Bronson hadn't been fatally shot. Heaven is forced to defend him, but can she save his life?
